Facial Surgery: The Male Facelift, There is a Difference
Men are often opposed to facelifts because they have a difficult time with the idea of this type of surgery to correct their face and don’t see themselves as needing so much done. “Just a little bit doc” just won’t provide a result that will correct a severely loose neck or lower face. The good news is that a properly executed facelift for men will give a refreshed, masculine look that is not overdone by focusing on the neck but also include the lower jowl of the face. Isolated neck lifts can also be performed, The goals of facial surgery in men are different than in women. They just don’t need as much work and refinement in the upper face and cheekbones. They don’t want a lifted eyebrows and high cheekbones. Caution and restraint is key in treating the male face.
Similarly, eyelid surgery should be subtle and leave the eyelids less crisp looking and avoid the startled look. Heavy eyebrows need to be raised but not overcorrected using endoscopic incisions or direct brow lifts.
Some necks can be corrected with a simple midline incision behind the chin and neck fat removal with muscle tightening. Lastly, fat grating by removing fat from the abdomen through small incisions with liposuction and transferring it to the midface can correct the severely deflated male face without a surgically done result. Technology has improved dramatically in recent years to give more reliable and consistent but not overcorrected results.
