Cellulite is described in many ways: cottage cheese, dimples, orange peel etc., but the structural cause, common to all forms of true cellulite is, fibrous septae or bands that tug the skin and create the lumpy dimpling. The most common areas affected are the hips, thighs, buttocks and abdomen. Cellulite is known to affect almost 85% of all women between the ages of 25-60 years.
Unfortunately, cellulite increasingly becomes more common as women get older. However, there is a new FDA approved minimally invasive procedure called Cellfina™ that is proven to provide a long-term solution for this unsightly condition.

What is Cellfina™ Cellulite Reduction?
Recent studies have shown, Cellfina™ to be one of the most effective, long-lasting, and least invasive procedures to reduce cellulite available today. A single Cellfina™ treatment can provide semi-permanent results that last for up to a minimum of two years or longer, with some results lasting five years in ideal conditions. It also has a 94% patient satisfaction rating of any cosmetic treatments available of any type.

How Does Cellfina™ Cellulite Reduction Work?
While there are other procedures designed to treat cellulite, they generally provide only temporary results. Cellfina™ produces longer-term results since it breaks the fibrous tissue bands that pull on the underlying structures of the skin which causes the cellulite to form. Once these bands are broken, it leaves the skin’s surface smooth and cellulite-free.

What are the Expectations of a Cellfina™ Treatment?
Each Cellfina™ treatment takes approximately an hour to perform, usually without general anesthesia, though light sedation is available to patients that request it. The cellulite dimples are carefully marked by the physician. A suction device is placed over the marked areas that raises up the skin, like a thick pancake, then a combination of saline and numbing solution is injected into the treatment area. A small, fine needle blade is then inserted into the raised area, which vibrates back and forth, releasing the fibrous bands of connective tissue in a tightly controlled pattern. Most patients feel very little discomfort.
What are the Side-Effects of a Cellfina™ Treatment?
Side effects of a Cellfina™ treatment include some light bruising, soreness, swelling and tenderness to the treated areas, however, most patients can go back to their active lifestyles in 24 hours after treatment. Generally, patients treated with Cellfina™, do not develop scars post operatively. Complete results become visible between two – three months after the initial procedure. Some visible results may begin to show within three days after treatment.
